bigjoe2003: Out in first level

http://www.sngicons.com/geeklog/blogs//article.php?story=20080413070237506

I knew it. As I predicted, this loser would cry about a "bad beat" and tell us that everyone else sucked except him.

Firstly, he's complaining about the cost of luxuries in one of the most expensive aeas in the world. ORLY? Damn...who goes to Monte Carlo thinking they're going to get a cheap vacation. That is really dumb and shows his lack of cosmopolitanism (i.e. he's a hick yokel). This isn't the jungle, son!

The two hands that Joe analyses, he plays so bad it amazes me how he makes any money. So it's the first level, people are looking to get into the pot with a range of hands and hitting the flops quite cheap. Joe abliges by raising ace-rag (oh wait it was SOOTED!! like that matters...) 2.5 the BB which is a tiny raise and smells of weakness. So he gets the obvious 3-4 calls and hits nothing. With 5 players in the flop, you think SOMEONE hit a king or queen? So he made a retarded raise (you will never take down the pot in this spot with so many people in), instead of the slightly less fishy call or super standard fold. Guess what...his raise (obv) gets called. He makes all these comments trying to justify his play and how people "should never call with a king in this spot", and even puts the guy on J10! He bets AGAIN!!!! Ok, if someone calls a re-raise on the flop, they are not going to fold to a bet on the turn when a 5 comes...mistake number 3. At least he didn't decide to continue the facade. Very few players can fire 3 bluff barrells, and certainly not weak Joe. The SB guy was only behind for the initial 100 chips and was never behind in the hand afterwards...how was that unlucky Joe? You think you have the divine right never to be called down when you're bluffing? Sounds like this kid had you totally scoped out. Rope-a-dope, baby.

The second hand proves to me that Joe was being targetted. Folks, when you spot a fish at your table, you can get into the pot with a wide range of hands when they raise because the implied odds when you DO hit a monster justifies the initial investment. Deep stack MTT fish like bigjoe will grossly overvalue their hand, raise small preflop, and you'll be able to mop them up like krill. To cut a long story short, my read on Joe's opponent is: this particular guy seems to CALL DOWN with top pair or a draw (remember Joe put him on J10 in the previous hand?), so he doesn't have a 5 or an overpair and he doesn't have 23 or 67 when he raises. Now he's raising...alarm bells should be ringing for most good players. You simply CANNOT call down someone like this even with aces. HE HAS A FOUR JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME!!! Why does Joe insist on thinking people are trying to bluff him? This is such an obvious fold on the flop to me I'm embarrassed to even have to say it. So Joe spews another 10k chips being a calling station.

I can imagine this is what bigjoe looks like right at this moment. HOW DARE THEY OUTPLAY HIM!!! How can anyone play this bad and expect to win anything? This is the big difference between SNGs and MTTs. In SNGs when you make a mistake, your mistake limits you only to the buy-in and you can load up another, or 20, and carry on. In MTTs mistakes like these cost you a LOT, especially in the big buy-in events. If you ever get to watch the great poker players in action early in a tourney, they are making the big laydowns quite often, and usually they are right. One pair is never enough to go broke on. Joe (as well as all the "Icons") is a total pushbot. They wait until the blinds get high enough in SNGs and just try to luck their way to victory by pushing all their chips in hoping not to get called or to get lucky in the 40/60 situations. MTTs by nature require infinitely more post flop skills, and this is why the "Icons" fail (unless you run like God, eh FJ?).
Joe, today you proved that AA always wins you a little pot or loses you a big one. It is a poker fact. Don't deny it.

UPDATE:
Wow, I think this dude hates bigjoe more than I do! Keeping it here before it gets deleted. Whoever posted this, please leave a comment here, because this was a classic.

Joe, you're upbringing in a trailer park is readily apparent when you post junk like this. Obviously you're lack of tact, class, decency or any sense of intelligence shows. You come to Monte Carlo, the cradle of Europe's upper crust and expect your second rate play to cut mustard? Are you serious? You took your typically overconfident attitude into this tourney and as was expected donkeyed out in quick succession. You were LUCKY enough to win an Aston Martin and you think that this somehow makes you a top player. Not so. You have no cred amongst those of us who really play. Now you have a blog, a car that's worth more than the accumulation of all your other assets and the illusion of poker grandeur. You're a loser. Go have a 40 dollar hamburger and simmer down. I'll have a martini and a laugh at your expense.....
